““Every toy when played, it's time for suspension and surprise, playful time, attentive and at the same
time, disinterested...The time for play is always the time for now.”

Caio Riscado

vAiVéM is a circus performance installation. A multidisciplinary project that combines the languages of dance, circus and visual arts. The poetics of the instalation is based on an investigation into the swing -an ancient democratic toy, belonging to the street, full of childhood. He brings a images of life with its upsand downs, with advances and retreats. On vAiVéM , this toy takes on the size and weight of a grown-up's dream. It has an iron structure with 4 meters high and 4 meters long. Despite its size, the swing isentirely dismountable , occupying unusual spaces, for a short period of time. The installation's proposal will always be in dialogue with the place: with people, landscapes, sounds and habits of the place's visitors.

The perfomer's movement - based on elements of the circus (trapeze and Chinese mast) and dance - leads the audience to a myriad of sensations: butterflies in the stomach, shortness of breath, laughter and surprise, the fear of falling, amazement and wonder. As well to the swing, the surroundings of the place are used throughout the presentation.
In vAiVéM, the swing is and is not the playground toy. Its size brings, in itself, a magical character to the unfolding of the performance. What can a swing and a structure that size do? The four performers tell us that a lot can be achieved. In these promiscuous limits between play and life, between the imaginary and the real, between wanting to swing alone and together, at the same time and now, vAiVéM mimics the Walter Benjamin's swing of life.

It is not alone. But is not always together.

At the end of the performance. Everyone will have the opportunity to climb, to swing and experience the different sensations that this movement can bring, from the butterflies in the stomach of reaching high flights, to the vertigo of being groundless. vAiVéM is an invitation to childhood, to play time.
